Marliz Frencken is a Dutch painter who’s been working for over 40 years. Losing her mother at a very young age, her work has always been a search for who her mother was, for all the women she could be. Frencken painted only women for 40 years.

Now Frencken is working on a series of paintings of Britt, an ongoing series of portraits of her daughter. The paintings evolve from the intense, almost wordless collaboration between mother and daughter. Britt is depicted in clothing Marliz collected throughout her life, an archive of memories. In every painting, her daughter becomes a new woman, a new emotion, a new memory.
